A report of a missing girl from Crawford County has led to a child sexual assault charge against a 19-year-old La Crosse man.
Teagun A. Campbell was charged in La Crosse County Circuit Court with a single felony count of second-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 16.
According to the criminal complaint, police learned a 13-year-old girl was using Tinder to meet older men. Police identified a vehicle used to transport the girl, which led officers March 5 to a Mormon Coulee Road residence where Campbell lives.
Both Campbell and girl were at the residence when police arrived. The complaint says the girl initially gave police a false name before Campbell identified who she was.
Campbell reportedly told police that a friend dropped the girl off at his residence March 4 and said she needed a place to stay. When informed of the girl’s age, Campbell reportedly, replied, “You’re joking? 13?” The complaint says Campbell acknowledged the two had previously had social media contact and that he drove to Crawford County to pick her up.

The complaint says Campbell admitted that it was the second time the girl had stayed at the apartment. He reportedly told police the two had sex “about three or four times” during those visits and that the girl swore that she was 18. He agreed to give a sample of his DNA.
The complaint says the girl at first adamantly denied any sexual contact occurred. During a second interview she changed her story and said the two engaged in sexual intercourse. She told police she lied during the first interview because she didn’t want Campbell to get into trouble. She also said she has run away from home multiple times.
Campbell is free on a $1,000 signature bond that prohibits contact with anyone under 18 except for siblings. His next court date is a June 25 calendar call.
