Published - Saturday, June 20, 2009 Power outage affects homes in Viroqua area VIROQUA--Viroqua residents were without electricity for about 35 minutes when a circuit breaker tripped cutting off power, Saturday afternoon. An Xcel Energy customer service representative said power to 1,353 residences was cut off at 5:07 p.m. The outage initially had a repair time of 10:07 p.m. However, the power came back on at 5:43 p.m. Businesses on both Viroqua’s north and south sides reported their power had been restored at about the same time. The Vernon County Sheriff’s Department dispatch center said the power outage was not related to any particular incident that had been reported. The temperature reached 85 degrees in Viroqua, Saturday afternoon, under a nearly a cloudless, sunny sky.
