A 69-year-old rural Soldiers Grove woman suffered severe lacerations to her arms and legs when attacked by pigs after falling while moving the animals to a pen.

According to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, Judy Surface was moving the pigs from one pen into another when she tripped and fell to the ground. Between four and six pigs attacked her.

Two neighbors helping Surface were able to distract the pigs and pulled Surface out of the pen.

The North Crawford EMS transported Surface to Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua. She was later flown by Med Link helicopter to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.

As of Tuesday morning, Gundersen Lutheran did not give out a report on Surface's condition, Tuesday.

" Don't even suggest that you're serious. Do you know how many times a farmer gets hurt by cows or farming equipment? People are hurt and killed by motor vehicles which BRING food to you. "Are you just going to stop eating all food?

Sure, certain types of pork may not be the best for you, but it's sure not because some pig attacked someone somewhere. What kind of logic is that? I almost feel forced to ask, How old are you?

NO, I do NOT raise hogs, but they can be vicious, just like OTHER farm animals. "

" This is proof of how dangerous pigs are. I know some local people in our area who only eat KOSHER only. They are "Torah Keeper Christians". They have been trying to convince me to stop eating all pork/ham. I like the taste of pork/ham. DO you think they may be right? "
