Published - Friday, September 05, 2008 Pigs attack woman who falls at farm A 69-year-old rural Soldiers Grove woman suffered severe lacerations to her arms and legs when attacked by pigs after falling while moving the animals to a pen. According to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, Judy Surface was moving the pigs from one pen into another when she tripped and fell to the ground. Between four and six pigs attacked her. Two neighbors helping Surface were able to distract the pigs and pulled Surface out of the pen. The North Crawford EMS transported Surface to Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua. She was later flown by Med Link helicopter to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. As of Tuesday morning, Gundersen Lutheran did not give out a report on Surface's condition, Tuesday.
