The Sherry-Butt House will host the Vernon County Historical Society's 15th annual Old-Fashioned Straw-berry Shortcake Ice Cream Social on Friday, July 4, from 1 to 7 p.m.
Volunteers bake shortcake for the event, which can draw an average of 200 to 300 guests.
The Viroqua Com-munity Band will hold a concert at 2 p.m., followed by the Viroqua Men's Chorus.
In case of inclement weather, the social and concert will be held in the Youth Building on the Vernon County Fair-grounds.
Strawberry shortcake, ice cream, lemonade and a tour of the home are included in the $ 4 price.
Marica Andrew, chair of the Sherry-Butt House Committee, said Clara Overbo was the originator of the event.
A second event to be held at the Sherry-Butt House this summer is a chicken barbeque on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. the barbecue is also an annual event.
Proceeds from both will benefit the Vernon County Historical Society.
