Instead of going to school more days to make up for classroom time lost to winter weather, the Viroqua School District has decided to make its school days longer.
This means that the last day of school, barring any further cancellations, will be June 6. Also, it means that dismissal times beginning on April 7 will be 3:03 p.m. at the elementary school and 3:18 p.m. at the middle school and high school.
The district, in a news release, said that, as of Wednesday, the district had cancelled four days due to inclement weather. Students are required to make up the equivalent of two of these days.
"Instead of adding days to the end of the school year, we will be adding minutes to the end of the school day as a means of meeting this requirement," the release said.
Should another school day need to be cancelled, the district will send out a notice describing how it will be made up.
