Second Amendment protects law-abiding citizens

When automobiles became popular, someone stated that we had “lost the art” of walking. Some wiseguy replied, “The art of walking is not lost! One must somehow get to one’s automobile.”

Today we seem to have lost the art of thinking because accurate independent reasoning is quite rare.

Follow these examples of faulty thinking:

A pencil was used to write some bad words = ban pencils.

A hammer was used to kill a family member = ban hammers.

A car was used to kill a pedestrian = ban cars.

A gun was used to kill someone = ban guns.

Recently a TV news reporter loudly declared that there had been no multiple gun killings in England since their gun ban was employed. Then he quietly admitted there had been more gun crimes than before the ban. So, according to this faulty reasoning it is OK to kill more people, just don’t kill so many in one place at one time.

Consider the way it can be. At Kenasaw, Ga., where the law requires that each head of household own, learn to use and maintain a firearm, they have been virtually gun-crime free since 1982.

A bumper sticker has been popular which states, “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.”

The following quotation should illustrate the point that gun restrictions are used for freedom restriction: “This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient and the world will follow our lead into the future.” (Adolph Hitler, 1935)

When a tyrannical government thinks they have all other plans in place, the last need to take over a people completely is gun control. The Second Amendment was in place to guarantee that this would not happen.

" Everyone is a law-abiding citizen until s/he engages in criminal conduct and is indicted, e.g. shoots the neighbor, shoots the spouse, shoots the neighbor's dog, shoots the "intruder" who turns out to not be an "intruder," shoots his son while hunting, etc. How many "law-abiding citizens" have passed you on the road when you are driving at the speed limit? In this context, "law-abiding" is truly meaningless. The majority of killings with guns are committed by those who are using registered firearms. "

" I agree with you 100%. However, you missed one miniscule point that I believe must be addressed. Everyone with more of a brainstem knows that banning guns will only increase gun crimes and murders. But, the renegades who are constantly calling for gun control, environmental issues, or simply having a bad memory as an excuse for ongoing investigations are Liberals. As soon as Va. Tech. happened, CNN and MSNBC began holding "debates" for gun bans and gun conmtrol. While everyone else was concerned about the victims, Liberals used it for a political platform. "
